Last month, My Mum (Kath), Brother (Rich), Partner (Will), and dog (Padfoot) headed to Snowdonia (Eryri), in North Wales for a week of adventuring!
We based ourselves in a gorgeous Airbnb in Llanberis so that we were in the heart of the mountains.
The mountain forecast for the first couple days of the trip were not looking great. So instead, on day one we headed to the coast where the forecast was predicting sunshine, leaving the mountains behind us for another day.
After a bit of a lie in, we went straight to the café at Whistling Sands for a morning coffee, followed by an early lunch.
Whistling Sands gets its name from the distinctive squeaky sound the sand is meant to make underfoot—but it stayed silent for us this time. Maybe it only whistles for early risers…

We then followed the Porthor coastline for a stunning walk.
We also ended up walking further than planned as there was a field FULL of cows. I’d had a recent experience of being chased by cows on a run so we decided that, especially with the dog, it might be better to continue along for a bit longer before looping back.

After the walk, we went back to Whistling Sands Bay for refreshing swim, which Padfoot absolutely loved, followed by a hot chocolate to warm up.
After the walk, we made our way back to Whistling Sands Bay for a refreshing swim, much to Padfoot’s delight. He was in his element, chasing stones and swimming back and forth between me and Mum who was standing at the shoreline. We wrapped things up with a hot chocolate, the perfect way to warm up after a slightly chilly dip.

A great, gentle, start to the holiday!
