Hello, I’m back again with another festive themed blog post. I hope you’re getting into the festive spirit more since last weeks post (despite the general election).
On Friday morning I packed up all my things and headed home from Plymouth back to Phead (Portishead*). Mum kindly picked me up and we took a visit to Saltram National Trust house which looked beautiful inside. So if ya hadn’t already guessed by the title, this weeks blog post involves my journey home via Saltram (AND also putting up the Christmas decorations at home). I’ve added in a mix of a few video clips to spice things up a bit, I hope you like it.
I’ve been to Saltram a lot over the years I’ve been studying in Plymouth. The last couple of weeks I’ve been 3 times! But this was the first time this year I’d been in the house and it was STUNNING!!!

Each room was decorated as a different fairy-tale scene. There was the Princess and the Frog, and Cinderella, and Alice in Wonderland, and More! Was very festive. Every year they do new decorations in the house, it’s sooo worth checking out
We also had a little walk round the grounds while we were there to stretch our legs before 2 hours in the car.

Which was followed by a spot of lunch (with a gorgeous shortcrust pastry mince pie)
Then I had the joys of finally seeing the Phead Lights! They did indeed make me feel festive 🙂
Then yesterday we spent the evening putting up all of the Christmas decorations. I attempted filming a few time lapses of us struggling with different bits of decor, like the fairy lights ….
and the tinsel….
And (after the dog wrestled with a Father Christmas toy) Mum put up the Mistletoe that we picked up at Saltram for only £2 that was freshly picked there.
We watched The Holiday (one of my fave Christmas films!) whilst putting them up and having some Mulled wine – of course. This is the finished look:

I then spent the rest of the evening helping Mum and Dad write Christmas cards and then caught up with His Dark Materials on IPlayer.
I hope you’re all almost ready for Christmas with 10 days left to go. Make sure you have a nice time to relax and enjoy this lovely time of year. I’ve got a couple presents left to buy and some exciting Christmas meals to attend. Have you got anything exciting on this coming week?
I’ll See ya next week with another blog post. I’m thinking of taking a break from the Christmas themes ones and pop a bit of short story fiction I’ve been writing if that’s something you’d be interested in? let me know in the comments 🙂 Have a good day and a nice week x
